Thanksgiving has come and gone!

I can't believe it is already December....where has the time gone?? We stayed in Colorado for Thanksgiving this year. We figured it would just be easier with a newborn who still gets up several times a night and is only quiet when he is sleeping!!! Yes...that's right, God saved the fussy one for our last! The last few days, I seriously think he's screaming whenever his eyes are open. He's content when he's eating, but likes to use his lungs other than that! We spent Thanksgiving with our friends, The Kissel's. We had a fun and relaxing day!! Addison and Maddox are both still LOVING their baby brother. The last week Addison has started crying alot more and says she misses her sister Annabelle. We are not sure if maybe she is jealous that Maddox has a brother or if she saw how sad it made us the first couple times she did it and tries to get that same reaction out of us. Not that Jon and I don't, but Addison definitely keeps Annabelle's memory alive and doesn't let anybody forget that we have 6 in our family and not 5! Whenever somebody asks us how many kids we have or asks her how many brothers and sisters she has, she always includes Annabelle in our family. It is very sweet, but when she says that her sister Annabelle is in heaven with Jesus, you can just see the discomfort on people's faces. One lady said oh, heaven, I hear that is a very nice place! We decided Cooper's nickname should be minicooper right now instead of coop deville. Once he is a little older, we will change the nickname to that. Then when he is an older man, he can be called Caddy!! HEHEHE Then we would have Addy, Maddy, and Caddy! Ok, you would think I have too much time on my hands huh? I have been fighting the flu/sinus infection/cold the last couple of days. I'm praying the kids don't get sick. Going to help Maddox build a tower with his blocks, so signing off for now.

Annabelle's 2nd Birthday

Today we celebrated Annabelle's 2nd Birthday. Addison went to school in the morning and Cooper, Maddox and ventured out to the grocery store. All the kids could talk about was making a cake for Annabelle, so after lunch we baked the cake and then decorated it. And boy are they good at decorating a cake!!! They were so careful and tried to put the candies in certain places! I'll have to find a picture from her first cake because if I remember correctly they look very similar......just a bunch of candy and sprinkles all over the cake!!!! The very top picture is from last year. I guess the about the only difference is the color of the frosting! Cooper even got in on the action of blowing out the candles. We went out for pizza and then came home and had a little party for Annabelle. That afternoon Addison and Maddox were playing outside and she came in and said, "Mommy, I have something very special in my hand." I said what it is? Addy then said, " Mommy, it's a very special and beautiful rock for Annabelle's birthday present." It was so sweet! We now have a white rock sitting beside a picture of our family including Annabelle. It was a bittersweet day for me. I am so thankful that we have our sweet little Cooper. However, it doesn't take away the pain of losing Annabelle. Sometimes I will look at Cooper and it makes me miss Annabelle even more. Overall, I would say I am doing well. I am sure her birthdays will always be a bit emotional for me. Thanks to all of you who called, emailed or texted saying you were thinking about Annabelle and our family. It really does mean alot to us.
We are starting to settle in and get in somewhat of a routine. It has been so nice to have such great weather so the kids can hang out outside. Cooper is adjusting well and is a sweet little guy. He does not like to have his diaper changed or wait very long to eat when he is hungry!!! He still has a set of lungs on him!! Maddox has calmed down a bit. Still in Coop's face all the time, but has not been destructive, so I'm thankful for that! Addison is such a big helper. She is a great little mommy! Here are a few pics of the kids decorating the cake and the final product!! Yes that is a cake under all that candy!

Finally home and trying to get settled!!

Well, we were released from the hospital on Halloween around 3PM. Cooper's tests came back negative, so they are thinking his culture was contaminated and it wasn't actually in Cooper's system at all. Unfortanately he had to be hooked up to that IV and have antibiotics for 3 days when it wasn't really necessary, but I'm glad they were overly cautious and made sure there was nothing wrong with him. Cooper is doing well. He still has jaundice so he is on a light, but hopefully won't have to be on that much longer. When we came home Addison greeted us and was so excited to finally have Cooper home. Maddox was napping, but when he woke up he seriously had a smile on his face for an hour!!! He was so excited he could barely contain himself. It was very sweet. He is always wanting to be holding him, feeding him, touching him, kissing and hugging on him or up in his face. He means well, but we are really having to watch him. He thinks he is capable of picking him up all by himself. Maddox is also having a hard time with having a new little person in the house. He has started going in his diaper again which he has never done. He has no desire to wear his big boy underwear because he says he is a baby. Whenever Cooper cries, Maddox starts crying just like him. Yesterday when he woke up from his nap, we went into his room and he had torn the border off of his wall. He said it was because he was mad at the wall. We asked him if he was mad that Cooper was here and he said no, but we have never had issues like this with Maddox. He has always been the layed back one who was a really good listener. I forgot what it was like to get up during the middle of the night for feedings!!!!! I'm sure there is a reason why we forget that!!! Cooper likes to eat!! I'm noticing he also loves to be held. It's hard to not want to hold him all the time, because I know he is my last baby. Gotta run for now, speaking of eating, Cooper just woke up and is using those lungs to tell me he is hungry!!!

Still Here

Well, it is Thursday and we are still in the hospital. We spoke with the pediatrician today and they are still watching the second culture for growth. Looks good so far. They want to keep him on the antibiotics overnight as well. They are going to do another chest xray tomorrow and run a few more tests and if everything looks good, then we will be discharged tomorrow. They are thinking it was just a contaminate that effected the culture, but they just want to be sure before they send us home. Cooper is jaundice, so they started him under the lights today as well. He is eating well and still a fiesty little thing. More to come later!

Cooper Miles Base is here!!!!!

Hi everybody,
Sorry this is a few days late, but I didn't have immediate access to the internet. Cooper Miles Base was born on October 27th at 1:16pm. He weighed 7lbs 1 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. He has lots of dark brown hair. He looks alot like his big sister Addison did as a baby. He finally received his name about 4 hours after he was born!!!! We are still in the hospital and not sure when we will be going home. Cooper's breathing was a little faster than they liked to see in newborns, so they ran some tests and did a chest xray and found an infection. The good news is that the infection is contamintable(SP) which means it is not in the blood. They took him to the nursery on Tuesday night and started him on antibiotics so he has not been allowed out of the nursery since. He will most likely be on those until tomorrow night, so we are hoping to go home Friday sometime. His vitals and temp are all good, so for now they are just keeping an eye on the cultures to make sure there is no more growth. They will also be doing another chest xray in the morning to check for more fluid on the lungs. One of the nurses in the nursery was telling me he is a fiesty little thing and has a set of lungs on him!!!! He also said he is quite a kicker which I have known for the last several months! Addison and Maddox are loving him. Maddox was very sad today when he couldn't see his brother. Monday when Addison saw him, she just kept wanting to hold him....she's quite the mother hen! Check in again soon as I will post pictures of the big man as soon as we are able to go home.

The Final Countdown!!!!

Well, only 3 more days....Friday, Saturday and Sunday....the big day is set for Monday th 27th at 1:30pm. I can't wait to meet our little boy! Yep.....he's still just our little boy with no name! Hopefully we can come to an agreement on a name within the next 3 days. Otherwise, we may have to go with Addison's recommendation and name him Diego. Now that I look back the time really has gone by pretty quickly. God really did give me a peace about this pregnancy because I wasn't nearly as scared and anxious as I thought I would be after our experience with Annabelle. I always have small babies, but this one may be a bit larger according to a few comments I have received from people stating that this baby looks like it is going to be big!!! I'm not sure if that is their nice way of saying I look fat or what!!! We had a couples BUNKO party and Baby Boy Base went as a basketball! He made a very nice one I must say. I was the player holding the basketball and Jon was the referee. I made him wear the short, tight coaching shorts...remember those??!!!! Check out the pictures. Addy and Maddox are still so excited to meet their little brother. Now Addison is changing her mind a bit though and would probably rather have the baby be a girl. She is still so unsure about whether this baby is going to live in Heaven with Jesus and Annabelle or if he will get to come to our house. I can't wait to be able to show her that he is going to come home with us!!! It's amazing at what they comprehend isn't it? I guess that is all for now. Please pray that all would go well on Monday. Also, please pray that I could get rid of this sinus infection and thrush that I have had for the last 2 1/2 weeks. The dr said my immune system is low so will most likely not get rid of it until after the baby comes. We will update the blog on Monday and try to get some pictures posted ASAP, so check back in!!!

Finally got on board with blogging!!

Hi Family and Friends,
So many of my friends have sent me their blog pages recently, so I couldn't resist!! I know I am not the best at keeping in touch, so I thought this would help me keep you up to date with what is going on with our family. Not sure how good of a job I will be at updating it, but I will do my best. Our life isn't really that exciting, so who knows when I will even have news worth sharing!!!! The latest and most exciting news we have, which some may already know, is that we are expecting a baby boy the end of October. I am having a c-section October 27th. Addison and Maddox are so excited to have a baby brother. Addy always asks if this baby is going to live with us or go to heaven with Jesus and Annabelle. It breaks my heart that she is so young and yet has those thoughts of uncertainty. She wants to have a baby brother so badly. Maddox is thrilled that his brother will be sharing a room with him!! I think they will both be my "big helpers" once the baby comes. Maddox loves babies, so this baby will definitely be loved on!!! We still don't have a name or even an ideas and it is only 6 weeks away, so if you have any ideas, please feel free to share! Well, I guess I shouldn't say we don't have any names, we just don't have names that we both agree on! Maddox likes Baby and Addison's names change by the minute! Usually something like cooley or cauney or sonny, monny or kilani.....she likes those rhyming names! Hope you are all doing well and ready for the change in weather. Looks like fall is here at least in Colorado! Take care and look us up if you are ever in Fort Collins. We love visitors!

Love you!
